The History Museum has a sundial dating from the eighteenth century

A specimen of a sundial dating from the eighteenth century is kept in the city of Girona, on a wall in the old Capuchin monastery of Sant Antoni.

Sundial-making culture has deep roots in Catalonia. Ramon Llull had already left a description of one by the fourteenth century. And there are over four-hundred recorded in the area of Girona, from all periods, and made in all styles and materials.
They are mostly found in the country, though also in emblematic castles, the houses of the upper classes and other buildings. Preserved in the former Sant Antoni monastery for Capuchin friars – now the city’s History Museum – is one from the eighteenth century.
