Wide range of activities related to Girona during the Peninsular War
Girona and France: Times of War and Peace, 1569-1939 is a temporary exhibition that opens up a new perspective on the Peninsular War within the greater context of the 1792-1823 war cycle. The exhibition is backed up by a programme of guided and dramatised visits, itineraries around the city, and the more light-hearted Peninsular War Game and Lion Cut-Out.
Guided visits around the exhibition will be held at 7 pm on the last Saturday of every month, and on weekdays for groups of primary and secondary schoolchildren. Curator Genís Barnosell will give free guided visits around the exhibition on Saturday 16 May (8 pm) and Sunday 27 September (12 noon). Jaume Prat will lead tours of the castle and towers on Montjuïc Hill on Sunday 3 May (11 am) and Sunday 4 October (11 am). Also related to this period of Girona history are Jaume Prat's tours of the bastions of the Mercadal defence wall, taking place on 7 June and 6 September. An element of fun is provided by the dramatised visits every Tuesday (10 pm) in July and August. The Peninsular War Game and the Lion Cut-Out also afford entertainment on the same subject.
