Another perspective on the Perpinyà Plan.
The The Perpignan Plan under Construction as viewed from the Market by Jesús Portas (1917- 1991) can be seen in the Museum gallery devoted to Francoism.
Jesús Portas painted this oil painting in 1968 in order to capture the process of construction of the ambitious Perpinyà Plan. Gallery 13 of the museum’s permanent exhibition devoted to the periods of the Civil War and Francoism in the city of Girona (1936- 1975) provides a detailed explanation of this real-estate project that lay within the framework of the stage known as desarrolismo (developmentalism) of the 1960s. This work is exhibited along with the model of what was to become this controversial plan. Girona City Council has acquired it to add to its local artistic heritage collection.
