The Autumn programme at the City History Museum opens
The Autumn programme at the City History Museum opens at the same time as Girona’s yearly municipal Festivities, at the end of October, and it will be packed with free options such as dramatised tours, some for children and some for all the family, and stories. This season will also bring an exhibition devoted to the figure of Emília Xargay.
This temporary exhibition, which will open on St. Narcissus’ day, the 29th of October, can be seen down to mid February in the City History Museum’s exhibition room. Presented under the title Emília Xargay. El vol d’una ratlla (‘Emília Xargay. The flight of a line’), and curated by the art critic Eva Vázquez, the exhibition is intended to pay homage to this artist, who was among the most prominent representatives of art in the twentieth century in Catalonia and Girona, and who would have been celebrating her eightieth birthday this year. Girona City Council is thus reiterating its own homage to the late artist from Sarrià de Ter, in whose honour the retrospective exhibition Xargay, 50 anys d’art (‘Xargay, 50 years of art’) was devoted back in 1989 in the same municipal premises.
