109 years ago today, the birth of the historian and archivist Luis Batlle and Prats

Author of numerous works on historical topics about Girona and founder of the Institute for Studies from Girona.

Luis Batlle y Prats was the founder of this organization dedicated to the study and dissemination of cultural heritage of our city. Soon, a scholarship of historical research that bears his name will be called. This is one of the actions proposed in the new cooperation agreement signed between the city of Girona and from Girona Studies Institute, last October. Along with the convening of conferences and seminars, publication of scientific and academic texts, access to specialized Library of IEG, located in the Mas de la Torre, and conducting lectures, tours and itineraries visits with the objective of making available to all public history and cultural heritage Girona.
We initiated a program of eleven routes around the city, coordinated by IEG, which will take us to different scenarios of modern Girona, and lead historians and specialists. The tours on Saturdays at 11 am, beginning December 13 with a visit to the hospital of Santa Caterina, the pharmacy and the Cultural Bisbe Lorenzana, by Isabel Juan Casademont be made.
