The use of the ticket M5, a promotional tool for the museums Iin the city of Girona
Once this initiative had begun, we needed to find out how the Tiquet M5 was working and how often it was being used by Girona museum visitors and visitors to the city. The study was carried out by the Institute of Cultural Heritage at the University of Girona.
In 2002 the public museums in the city of Girona (Spain) - the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia in Girona, the Art Museum, the City History Museum, the Museum of Jewish History and the Cinema Museum - began a project to collaborate on matters related to publicising and promoting the city's museums. This project was named Gironamuseus. One of their initiatives was to create the Tiquet M5. Let us remember that Girona is a city which in recent years has experienced a spectacular increase in the influx of tourists and that this is basically motivated by heritage-type attractions. The Tiquet M5 is a special group promotion which aims to make people aware of the existence of the various Girona museums and, at the same time, to provide them with an incentive to visit them. Once this initiative had begun, we needed to find out how the Tiquet M5 was working and how often it was being used by Girona museum visitors and visitors to the city. The study was carried out by the Institute of Cultural Heritage at the University of Girona.
Considered as a whole, the conclusions provide us with knowledge of how this special promotion of the Girona museums is used, and of the museums' place in what the city offers to tourists. At the same time, they contribute towards understanding the characteristics of the current use of museums in general.
