Writer Manuel Costa-Pau considers him to be the person who introduced the underground scene, the hippy movement and Zen cult to the Girona of his generation.
A Christian and an opponent of Francoist, Damià Escuder participated in the events known as the Fets de Palau (1960), where he was arrested for the first time. He was one of the founders of the Workers' Front of Catalonia, he had to suffer imprisonment for a year and a half and he was submitted to torture. In 2011, he became actively involved in the Indignants Movement in Plaza Cataluña, Barcelona.
A great deal of Damià Escuder's drawings is a result of automatism, a key to entering a world that expresses itself beneath the cortex of things. Some have, or seem to have, an abstract character, we sense others to be mysterious and refined creatures, beings with strange eyes that come from the depths of the night. Those who look at it carefully will see key messages. In one of them, for example, you can read the word: (Rose).
