Tribute to Isidre Vicens

The Girona History Museum wishes to pay a humble and sincere tribute to him with the intention of honouring him and keeping him in our memory.

Isidre Viencs i Cubarsí was one of Girona’s most accessible artists, a man who was very participative in the cultural life of Girona and an activist who always demonstrated his commitment to the Catalan cause. Isidre was all of that, but, above all, he was also a great painter and a good man.
Everyone who knew him emphasises, in particular, his personal kindness, warmness, absolute lack of resentment towards those who had made him suffer so much, his firmness, strong beliefs, clear and concise engagement with the struggle for freedom and independence, his humbleness and discretion.
On different occasions Isidre worked with the Girona History Museum, as a witness of the city’s historical memory and as a promoter of contemporary art and artists from Girona.
