Women in the museum. Portraits and similarities

Four female portraits of four historical eras symbolizing various ways to form part of the historical trajectory Girona.

The March 8 International Women's Day is celebrated, a commemoration that is not based on one fact nor has always had the same sense as the story is dynamic, changing, and the meaning of symbols and meanings also . Also, the representation of women in art has evolved over time, has witnessed the visual culture of each historical period and contributed often to stereotyping.

To mark International Women's Day from the Museum of History of Girona we turn our gaze to four female portraits corresponding to four different historical periods, and that symbolize different ways in which women have been part of the historical process and construction city.

We appreciate the posthumous donation of Mrs. Enriqueta Camps Martorell Mazó widow and disposals of Ms. Rosita Llonch, Ms. Carme Pagès Bergés, Mrs. Eugenia de Pagès Bergés and Tharrats family.
