Girona through the eyes of women travellers (19th and 20th centuries)

We work in a perspective of historical research that includes the gender, giving voice to the women pioneers of tourist trip to Girona.

Selection of twenty-five testimonies by women relating their experiences and emotions on their journey through Girona. The exhibition offers a different view of the city through the first-hand literary testimony of foreign women who visited the city; an image of Girona which spread throughout their immediate contemporary circles in an era when travel was entirely monopolized by men.

The exhibition is the result of the study of the same name which won the 8 March Scholarship for historical studies of women in Girona, awarded by Girona City Council in 2013.

In collaboration with Patronat de Turisme has published a catalog containing translations into Spanish, French and English.
