27 MARCH 2007 – 29 APRIL 2007 (Carbonera)
A book and exhibition about the men and women from Girona city centre. Francesc Eiximenis, a citizen of 14th century Girona, described his city as “the concordant congregation of many persons who participate and trade and live together”. Eiximenis was well versed in the classics – Socrates and Aristotle – for whom the essential element of a city was neither the site nor the stones with which it was built, but the people who lived there. And so this year we also speak about people: about the men and women who were born and lived in Girona city centre over the last millennium and who, through their diverse professions and activities, bestowed honour on the name of our city.
