Girona and water

An exhibition that aims to highlight the historical links Girona with water and its impact on all aspects of city life.

Water has left a strong imprint on the history of Girona. Crossed by four rivers and a canal, the city has found in water both an extraordinary source of wealth and a cause for concern. A source of wealth because water has helped the city to grow in all possible aspects and left a cultural and historical heritage of the first order. And a cause for concern due to the problems of supplying water to its inhabitants, river pollution and the constant threat of flooding.
Our aim is for visitors to leave this exhibition with a greater understanding of the valuable water culture that has forged Girona over time. The imprints left by water all over the city, whether visible or invisible, hide a whole host of treasures that deserve to be acknowledged and preserved.
