Walter Benjamin Week 2025

The Institute of Nahmanides Studies collaborates in the activities of the Walter Benjamin Week that will take place between Marseille, Barcelona, ​​Girona and Portbou from 5 to 10 April. It is organized by the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Barcelona, ​​the Walter-Benjamin Chair, Memory and Exile of the University of Girona, the DAAD Lectorate at the University of Barcelona and the Goethe-Institut of Barcelona.

Based on the personal destiny of Walter Benjamin, the program "Thinking is Hoisting the Sails - Migration and Exile" focuses on topics such as flight and migration of yesterday and today.

Within this framework, the conference Mantenir una història lliure d'explicacions. L'assaig de Walter Benjamin sobre Kafka (1934) will be held at the Nahmanides Institute for Jewish Studies, with Dr. Erdmut Wizisla (director of the Walter Benjamin Archive at the Berlin Academy of Arts) as the speaker.

This conference will be in German, with simultaneous translation into Catalan and will take place on Tuesday, April 8, at 6:00 p.m.
