Mantenir una història lliure d'explicacions. L'assaig de Walter Benjamin sobre Kafka (1934)
Conference by Dr. Erdmut Wizisla
Tuesday, April 8th - 18 h
Institut d'Estudis Nahmànides
As part of Walter Benjamin Week, the Nahmanides Institute for Jewish Studies will host the conference "Mantenir una història lliure d'explicacions. L'assaig de Walter Benjamin sobre Kafka (1934)" with Dr. Erdmut Wizisla (director of the Walter Benjamin Archive at the Berlin Academy of Arts) as speaker.
The seminar offers an exemplary reading of Benjamin's essay on Kafka, a famous but difficult-to-understand work. The relationship between Benjamin and Kafka is presented as a constellation. At the same time, it addresses a procedure that Benjamin repeats in his work: understanding literature without offering interpretations, only by telling stories, a fascinating method.

Introduction: Dr. Silvia Planas, director of the Museum of Jewish History in Girona.
