Carles Puidemont
Mayor of Girona
The city of Girona has rarely been as active culturally as at the moment. This government’s commitment to culture as an economic dynamo and tourist attraction is already paying dividends. This new strategy has seen the creation of the Girona Ciutat de Festivals brand, which brings together both the main festivals in the city, as well as the new ones that have been put in place, such as Nits de Clàssica, MOT or this, the International Mapping Festival of Girona (FIMG).
The International Mapping Festival of Girona was conceived to offer an attraction during the summer months, and we’ve done so by entering into an area that is just now coming into its own: 3D projections. Girona has history in the field with good results, and is the perfect place for such a festival, a setting that is practically unique in Europe that allows the perfect combination between innovation and heritage.
This new festival makes the most of synergies with the Bloom 3D and Emergent Technologies Centre, to enhance contemporary creation and attract international talent to continue to reinforce the role we have given to cultural capital in this country. Once more we take a chance to become a point of reference with festivals covering all areas of culture, breaking the mould with proposals like the FIMG that have something for everyone.
Enjoy!
