In total there have been 37 entries in the professional and open categories of the International Mapping Festival of Girona, most of which have come from inside Spain, but there have also been entrants from other countries such as Italy, France, Mexico, Morocco, Poland and Brazil. Subject matter is free, though should be inspired by the city and its distinctive qualities.
In the professional category there have been 22 projects from businesses and professionals dedicated to the audiovisual and mapping world, of which 17 have been chosen as finalists. In the open category, for non-professionals, there have been 15 projects entered, and the jury has chosen 5 as finalists. As such, a total of 22 projects will be shown in the finals of the competition.
In the educational category, which is open to all fifth- and sixth-year primary school pupils, as well as Secondary School students from schools in the city of Girona, 7 schools have entered. Their deadline for presenting their drawings has been extended until the 15th of June. Their drawings will be included in a mapping to be created by BLOOM that will be shown during the festival but not as part of the competition.
The City Council has offered all contestants the basic graphical material necessary to create the projects, as well as the infrastructure necessary for them to be shown.
Each finalist will receive an invitation for two people to the whole festival, which includes:
- Accommodation (with breakfast)
- Gala dinner with the jury
- Guided visit around the city of Girona
- Reception with the Mayor of Girona
- Excursion within the region (1 day)

Open category prizes:
- 1st prize: 2.000 € € + Software license
- Finalist: 1.000 €€ + Software license
Educational category prizes:
- 1st prize: 1.000 €€ (in school supplies)
- Finalist: 500 €€ (in school supplies)
