Memories of a pandemic

Campanya de participació ciutadana i recollida d'objectes

The Museum of Jewish History joins the campaign to collect documents and objects that bear witness to the Covid-19 through our country.
The campaign calls for the participation of all citizens. The objective is to preserve the testimonies of oral, written, audiovisual memory as well as objects that help us to interpret the impact of the pandemic in Catalonia. Museums are collecting very diverse materials (sanitary equipment, drawings, works of art, etc.) and all types of media (photographs, videos, voice messages, etc.). The donated material is going to become the cultural heritage that the next generations will be able to link with this crisis, which is first a health crisis, but also a social, economic and cultural crisis.
This is a campaign carried out in coordination with different museums of the Network of Museums of History and Monuments and of Museums of Ethnology of Catalonia. It will allow us, once the campaign is over, to pool the donated material, and evaluate the result to be able to make a cross-sectional reading and develop a common dissemination project.

How to participate

The campaign period is from May 19 to June 14, 2020.

If you have material that you think may be of interest, send us an email at reserves.callgirona@ajgirona.cat. It is necessary to include the following information:

Name and surname of the person who wants to donate

Photograph of the object or digital file to be transferred: images, audios, videos, drawings, documents or other objects that refer to Jewish Girona or that are related to the Jewish quarter of Girona, and that have been made or used during the pandemic.
If it is a material object, we can contact you to tell you how to make the delivery once the museums are opened. If it is a digital file, you can attach it directly to the email. If it weighs more than 8 MB, you will have to use a file hosting service to send it to us. In this case, we recommend that you use WeTransfer. If you have doubts about how to use this tool, you can view this explanatory video created by the Museum of the History of Catalonia: Com puc enviar un arxiu per WeTransfer?.

Brief description or relevant information about the object. What the photograph, video, or voice message describes.

The Museum of Jewish History reserves the right to deaccession any object.
The Museum of Jewish History will be able to expose the object as well as make it known in the same terms that apply to the Museum's collection, as well as carry out cultural outreach activities if it decides to do so.
The participants in the "Memories of a Pandemic" project authorize the Museum of Jewish History to display, publish, broadcast or reproduce the images, audios, videos and texts that you provide us without any kind of compensation.

Thank you!

Your material can be very useful for future generations to know the reality lived in these moments.
