El judaisme i les arts dramàtiques

El Dibbuq, la vida entre dos mons

Lecture by Joan Ferrer

Wednesday, March 18,
Institut d'Estudis Nahmànides

The series of conferences The judaism and the dramatic arts will offer an approach to the relationship of Judaism with artistic and dramatic expression, both from the position of a Jewish author, as from the projection that the works treated give to concrete aspects of Judaism.

The conference will present the work Entre dos mons: el Dibbuq by X. An-Ski, Xloyme-Zanvl Rapoport (1863-1920) written in Yiddish and translated into Catalan by Joan Ferrer and Anna Soler. The Dibbuq is the figure of the soul in sorrow, who finds no rest in the hereafter and who takes possession of a living person and speaks through his mouth. An-Ski’s drama is considered the most important play in the history of Jewish theatre.
