Lecture by Sigrid Weigel, director of the Berlin Center for Literary and Cultural Research. Ms. Sigrid Weigel is director of the "Berlin Center for Literary and Cultural Research", a research institute of Cultural History of Europe, namely the cultural history and comparative literature in Europe. Ms. Weigel is a specialist in Walter Benjamin and kabbala.

The conference will deal with the relationship between Benjamin and Kafka, and especially Kafka's relationship with Jewish culture. On this issue there is an intense exchange with the historian of the kabbala, Gershom Scholem. The lecture will analyze the debate between Benjamin and Scholem about Kafka.

Place: Nahmanides Institute of Jewish Studies.
