Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights

Lighting the fifth candle in the candelabrum

Thursday, December 22,
Plaça del Vi

During the event, the traditional candelabrum, the hanukkiah, will be lit until its fifth candle.
With the participation of the Cat Klezmer Trio group with a repertoire of traditional songs. We will be able to taste sufganiyot, the typical doughnut of this festival of Jewish tradition.

Hanukkah, the Jewish holiday of lights, is celebrated each year on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Jewish calendar. It commemorates the victory of the Jewish people over the Greek occupation (2nd century BC) and the subsequent purification and renovation of the Temple. It is a tradition to light an eight-branched candelabrum, called hanukkiah, each night progressively for eight days. This year 2022, Hanukkah is celebrated from 18 to 26 December.
