The discovery of the Orphic tablets, with the advice that the soul of the dead should follow in the afterlife, attracted the attention of some poets, who took the suggestive image of the "white cypress" from the Orphic text, linked to oblivion, to treat it according to one's own historical experience. It is no coincidence that Celan, Bartra and Riba have seen this tree as a threat, unlike Gottfried Benn. In this session we will comment on a poem from the cycle "Atemkristall", by Celan, and we will see how the value of memory in Judaism (with the injunction to remember) helps the poet to distance himself from the myth and write a critical poetry, against all forms of forgetfulness.
