1849 The Langenheim brothers obtain a positive photographic image on a glass plate, which they call the hyalotype, and thus introduce the possibility of projecting photographs with a magic lantern. | 1840 John Herschel, the discoverer of fixing agent in 1819, invents the cyanotype, a printed paper made with iron salts.
