Dans l'Israël de début des années 60, une nouvelle génération est en croissance: l'Israël militant est pas prêt à souffrir un autre Holocauste. Aharon, un garçon de treize ans avec un monde intérieur riche, ne peut s'adapter. Comme une expression de protestation n'a pas grandi pendant trois ans et se lance dans un voyage dangereux, franchir la frontière entre l'enfance et l'adolescence.
